Quilts & Throws – Patchwork
I make patchwork quilts to traditional block designs, repeat designs and medallion.
The quilts have plain backs and are machine quilted with 2oz polyester wadding or cotton wadding if preferred.

Log Cabin quilts in Liberty lawns.
I use Liberty lawns, American cottons, silks and furnishing weights and I can often incorporate memory fabrics in quilts. This works well in Sampler quilts where every block is different, scrap quilts like Broken Dishes or Framed Nine Patch or Grandmother’s Fan. I need to be careful about mixing different fabric weights in a quilt, I can suggest designs that will work best with your chosen fabrics.

I made the Broken Dishes scrap quilt from hundreds of fabric snippets a customer had collected, batiks, Japanese cottons and remnants from sewing projects.

Jacob’s Ladder quilt in furnishing weight fabrics. The fabric designs are often more bold and the weight makes it hard wearing and suitable as a chair throw.
When working with silk I prefer simple block patchwork or Medallion designs. I often vermicelli quilt to add texture.

Broken Circles’ quilts in dupion silk. The vermicelli quilt had 2 oz wadding. I used 4 oz wadding on the blue and red quilt and only quilted along the seams making the quilt puffier.

The green and blue quilts are in raw silk which is textured and matte. Machine quilted with designs of basket and leaves. I match the thread colour to the silk so the quilting shows well on the cream underside.
