Quilts & Throws – Appliqué
I can vary designs and colours and incorporate your own memory fabrics in appliqué quilts. I will make to any size, quilts, throws and bed runners. Appliqué quilts can be arranged in blocks, panels or full panel. The designs tend to be stylized; under the Wildflower tab you’ll find representational and plant study designs.
The quilts have plain backs and are machine quilted with 2oz polyester wadding or cotton wadding if preferred.

The borders can be appliqué or patchwork.
The blue Ceramic Tile quilt was made for a bed with a solid footboard so has cut out corners. It has a single fabric sashing strip with a different fabric at the intersections.

The sashing strips can be made of several patchwork strips or squares arranged at random as in these three quilts. This works well when incorporating memory fabrics. I used furnishing weight fabrics for the patchwork on these quilts, the designs on the fabrics are larger scale than Liberty lawns.
Blue gingham quilt, eiderdown size so just covering the top of the bed with no border. This works for a sleigh bed where the mattress sits in the bed frame. Shirting fabrics and American cottons on white.
Blue and yellow runner and Bird runner.
Not just butterflies and flowers, I also make Seaside block quilts.
Leaf and berry quilt. Black and grey patchwork with red, green and gold berries. And a few bees.
The leaf, dragonfly and butterfly blocks on the turquoize quilt are framed with hundreds of patchwork snippets and then joined with sashing, all Liberty lawns.
Panel quilts have no right or wrong way round so can be used on a single bed giving a drop on three sides or crossways on a double or king where they reach from pillow to footboard with a drop on two sides only.

Single Panel quilts can have appliqué or patchwork borders which can be deep enough to reach the floor or just the top mattress. Under the Wildflower tab you’ll find more representational and plant study designs.
I make throws in heavier fabrics, suitable for beds or chairs. They are usually maximum 140cm wide (54”) and 180 cm long (72”). The backing fabric is smooth furnishing weight fabric or chenille. These are quilted around the appliqué motifs, 2oz wadding and have plain or patterned backs.
